Scholarship Duration

The length of the scholarship depends on the type of program:

  • Master’s degree: 1.5-2 years

Eligible Countries

The scholarship is available to students from a wide range of countries across the world. The list is updated annually by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Applicants should check if their country is eligible to participate.

Participating Universities: The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship can be used at more than 30 Hungarian universities, offering various programs in English, German, and Hungarian.

Benefit

For selected individual:

 

  • Tuition Fee Coverage: Full tuition is paid by the Hungarian government.
  • Monthly Stipend: For living expenses (varies by degree level):
    • Bachelor’s and Master’s programs: 43,700 HUF/month
    • Doctoral programs: 140,000 HUF/month
  • Accommodation: Either free accommodation in university dormitories or a contribution toward housing costs.
  • Medical Insurance: Health insurance coverage for the duration of studies.
  • Travel Allowance: Some applicants may receive travel support, particularly for students coming from certain countries.

Application Process:

  • Online Application: Applicants must apply via the Hungarian Scholarship Portal (https://stipendijumsrbiji.rs) or through the relevant Hungarian embassies.
  • Documents Required: Typically, you will need:
    • Completed application form
    • Academic transcripts and certificates
    • Proof of language proficiency (usually English, sometimes German or Hungarian)
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Motivation letter
    • Two recommendation letters
  • Selection Process: The selection involves a rigorous process including review of academic qualifications, language proficiency, and a personal interview (for some programs). Each country may have its own selection procedure.
  • Follow its instructions to finish all the required application procedures 
  • Applicants must apply the system as requested within the application period

Language of Instruction: While most of the programs are taught in English, there are also options in German and Hungarian, especially for specific courses.
