Scholarship terms and conditions

1. The Scholarship is based on academic merit.

2. UoA will offer candidates the Scholarship to study an undergraduate or postgraduate award program at UoA (excluding the Excluded Programs) (“Program”) if all of the following requirements are satisfied:

(a) the candidate has achieved a minimum score as outlined below:

 i. a minimum ATAR of 85 (or comparable score) for entry to an undergraduate (UG) program; or

 ii. a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.5 on a 7.0 scale or comparable score for entry to an undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) program; or

iii. a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7.0 scale for studies completed at the University of Adelaide (or with a comparable score for studies at an Australian University where studies are completed in Australia) for entry to an undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) level award program; or

iv. successful completion of an Australian vocational qualification in Australia with an overall grading of a non-graded pass (competency-based);

(b) the candidate has received an Offer of Admission to the Program from UoA; and

(c) the candidate is not an Australian Citizen, a New Zealand Citizen or a holder of an Australia Permanent Residency Visa.

3. Eligibility for the Scholarship is assessed automatically at the time of application. Candidates will be notified of the offer of Scholarship in the Offer of Admission to the Program. Candidates must accept the offer of Scholarship and admission strictly prior to the lapse date specified in the Offer of Admission.

4. It is a condition of the Scholarship that the recipient must maintain during the Program:

(a) unless otherwise expressly provided in these terms and conditions, a full-time study load for each study period;

(b) a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 on a 7.0 scale (“Minimum GPA"); and

(c) their enrolment status as an international student*.

 5. The Scholarship will be suspended for any study period in which the recipient’s GPA falls below the Minimum GPA. UoA may at its discretion reinstate the Scholarship if the recipient raises their GPA to the Minimum GPA.

6. The following persons are not eligible for the Scholarship:

(a) a person who is already receiving an alternative scholarship from UoA.  UoA will award the highest value scholarship the candidate is eligible for at the time of application.

(b) a person who is receiving a scholarship or sponsorship awarded by a scholarship or sponsoring body recognized by UoA such as a government ministry or department, where the value of the award is greater than 50% of the tuition fees for the Program; and

(c) a person who has received a packaged offer from University of Adelaide College or Eynesbury College (packaged) with a UoA program.

7. Recipients cannot transfer the Scholarship to another program, unless otherwise determined by UoA in its absolute discretion. A new application is required for any new University of Adelaide program.

8. UoA will apply a tuition fee waiver directly to the tuition fee account of the recipient. The tuition fee waiver will reduce the recipient’s tuition fee liability by the Scholarship Value for each teaching period in the Scholarship Duration. The tuition fee waiver may not be reflected on the recipient’s tuition fee account until the census date of their intake.

9. The recipient will have full responsibility for: (a) the residual balance of the tuition fees payable for the Program; and (b) all other fees and expenses associated with the recipient’s participation in the Program, including the costs of visas, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), travel, accommodation, living expenses, text books, study materials or any other expenses associated with living in Adelaide or study at UoA.

10. The Scholarship does not cover, and the recipient will be liable for, any additional tuition fees payable by the recipient for: (a) coursework in which the recipient is enrolled which is not part of the Program; (b) if a recipient does not complete the Program within the duration specified in the Offer of Admission, the following period of study until the Program is completed; (c) any failed courses or any repeat courses that are undertaken by a recipient; (d) any courses or subjects of advanced standing or credit which have been granted to the Program; or (e) any courses enrolled in another institution, including cross-institutional study.

11. The Scholarship is not transferable to a third party or redeemable for cash.

12. Recipients must commence study in the Program in the study period for which the scholarship was offered. The Scholarship cannot be deferred to a different commencing intake.

13. If a recipient is permitted by UoA to undertake less than a full-time study load due to compassionate and compelling circumstances, the recipient may request that the Scholarship continue to be paid for the Scholarship Duration as specified in the original Offer of Admission. UoA will consider such request in its absolute discretion. 14. If UoA approves the recipient to take a leave of absence due to exceptional circumstances requiring them to return home, the recipient can apply for a deferment of enrolment in the Program for a maximum of one year without loss of the scholarship, provided this is permitted under the recipient’s visa requirements.

15. If a candidate receives more than one Offer of Admission with scholarship for the Program, the latest Offer of Admission with scholarship will supersede any previous offer issued to the candidate.

16. The offer of Scholarship will be withdrawn by UoA if the recipient’s Offer of Admission is withdrawn for any reason. The recipient will be liable for all tuition fees if the Scholarship is withdrawn.

17. UoA may terminate the Scholarship if the recipient:

(a) does not comply with the rules, policies and procedures applicable to students of UoA from time to time, including without limitation student codes of conduct;

(b) does anything that damages or is likely to damage the reputation of UoA, including engaging in disparaging comments regarding UoA or its Program;

(e) is expelled, terminated or withdraws, from enrolment in the Program prior to completing the requisite courses; or

(f) is, in the reasonable opinion of UoA, not complying with these Terms and Conditions.

18. The recipient must notify UoA immediately if they intend to:

(a) transfer to another program within UoA;

(b) discontinue full-time study in the Program;

(c) transfer to another institution;

(d) seek a retrospective withdrawal from any requisite courses they have enrolled in; or

(e) defer their studies and/or apply for Approved Leave.

19. The recipient may be required to participate in a photo shoot and complete a testimonial for UoA, which may be published on UoA’s website or used for other promotional purposes. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, the recipient consents to their image, likeness and name being published by UoA in connection with the promotion of the Program, which publication may be undertaken without further remuneration or payment. 20. UoA conducts yearly reviews of each scholarship scheme and reserves the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions without notice. In the event of any such change, all current recipients of a Scholarship or offer of Scholarship, will continue to have the terms of their scholarship honoured.

21. UoA does not represent to the recipient that the Scholarship will be tax free. The recipient is encouraged to seek independent advice on the tax implications of the Scholarship.

22. Applicants accepting an Offer of Admission with Scholarship are accepting these Terms and Conditions.
