About the program 

This prestigious award offers a full-ride opportunity to incoming first-year students, covering full tuition and room and board for four years—an estimated value of approximately $100,000. Alongside financial support, Presidential Scholars gain exclusive access to The Honors College at EMU, where they engage in critical thinking, community engagement, and leadership opportunities.

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Presidential Scholarship at EMU, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be a high school senior graduating in 2024 or 2025.
• Have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and a composite ACT score of 25 or a combined SAT score of 1200 (Critical Reading + Math).
• SAT/ACT requirements are waived for students with a GPA of 3.85 or higher.
• Apply for admission to Eastern Michigan University and submit all official transcripts and test scores by the scholarship deadline.

Application Procedure

Prospective candidates must complete the following steps to apply:

1. Submit the Presidential Scholarship Application Form: This form is a crucial part of the application process.
2. Submit the Presidential Scholarship Essay Form: A compelling essay is necessary to showcase your potential and aspirations.
3. follow its instructions to finish all the required application procedures. 
4. Applicants must apply the system as requested within the application period.
5. Attend an Official Campus Visit: Eligible visits include a campus tour, open house, or a virtual admissions event. The visit must be completed during the 2024 calendar year. Visit options are available at emich.edu/visit.

Additionally, The EMU Honors College offers special virtual sessions where students can interact with current scholars and learn how to prepare for the Presidential Scholars Competition. Upcoming sessions include:

• October 16 at 7 pm
• November 7 at 7 pm
• December 3 at 7 pm

Key Dates and Deadlines

Mark these important dates on your calendar to ensure a successful application process:

• December 14, 2024: Deadline to submit all application materials and complete the campus visit. All official admission documents must also be submitted to EMU by this date.
• January 15, 2025: Notification date for students moving on to the second round.
• February 8, 2025: Finalist interviews. Selected finalists will be invited to campus for an in-person interview or a virtual interview if they reside a substantial distance from Michigan.
