About the program
The University of Sydney offers a Postgraduate Research Scholarship 2025 for a PhD student to advance research in bioethics or health law. With a generous stipend of $30,000 per annum for up to 3.5 years, this scholarship supports groundbreaking research focused on enhancing the physical and mental health of people born with innate variations of sex characteristics (IVSC).

The Interconnect Health Research Project
This national initiative is driven by a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and community groups. Over five years, the project will execute three major work packages:
- Work Package 1: Evaluate clinical and peer-led care models in Canberra Health Services and the national InterLink psychosocial support service.
- Work Package 2: Conduct a national survey to assess the health and wellbeing needs of individuals with IVSC.
- Work Package 3: Develop bioethical frameworks to ensure timely, ethically sound healthcare access across the lifespan.
Eligible Nationalities
This scholarship is open to domestic and international students of all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must
- Apply for or hold admission to a PhD program within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.
- Conduct research aligned with the Interconnect Health Research project on improving the health of people born with innate variations of sex characteristics.
