Studying in Switzerland has so far been one of the best choices I made in my life. The views are unbelievable and I am glad to call one of the safest countries in the world, my home. Switzerland also allowed me to learn French and German since they speak these languages here. Also, I get to travel a lot because it is a small country with so many beautiful destinations which are easily reachable by their effective transport system. Even better, it is the center of Europe which means I can easily hop on a train and be in Milan, Paris, and many more cities. At SHMS (Swiss Hotel Management School) I get to study in one of the most beautiful campuses in the world, a Swiss palace hotel located high up on a mountain. The teachers and staffs are very nice and they truly care for students. They are not just teachers but have worked or had their businesses in the hospitality industry for many years before they started their teachings in SHMS. Here, I get to learn a lot on the practical side. For instance, in year 1 we had the opportunity to organize our restaurant concept and dinner concept from scratch and also work in the kitchen and service. We have 3 restaurants at school, a concept restaurant, a buffet restaurant, and a fine dining restaurant. The lessons are very interesting to me and made me love hospitality even more. Furthermore, we have to go through 2 internships during our bachelor program, one in the first year and the second one in the second year. In my first year, I studied for 4 months and worked for 6 months. This work is paid in many countries and SHMS also has good connections with big hotel brands. I know students from my school who have interned or worked at Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Fairmont and Bulgary, etc. Studying here gave me the upper hand as students from Swiss hospitality schools are highly valued.
