About this Program
Euan Frizzell was a Wellington animator and director. He died in 2012. The bursary was established by the New Zealand Games, Animation and Visual Effects Trust (NZ GAV Trust). For our purpose to support Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Design with Honours students who work predominantly in animation in their fourth-year final project.
Selection Criteria
- Selection will be based on a demonstrated ability in animation at an appropriate level.
- Applicants are asked to submit a 500-word proposal for the animation project in the analogue or digital medium they will undertake in their fourth year of study and link(s) to their online portfolio. Preference will be given to applicants with a well-developed proposal.
- Financial hardship will also be taken into consideration, applicants need to supply a statement of personal financial circumstances.
- The selection committee may take other awards or scholarships into account when making decisions on allocation of funding.
Selection Committee
- The bursaries are awarded by the University Scholarship Selection Committee based on a selection committee comprising the Head of School Ngā Pae Māhutonga – the School of Design, the Major Coordinator Visual Communication Design and at least one senior academic staff member who supervises animation.
Conditions of the Scholarship
- The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
- The committee has the right to refrain from making an award in the event of there being no applicants of sufficient merit.
