About the program
Flinders University has established this scholarship to support students seeking refugee status in Australia.
Three scholarships will be available per annum initially. The number of scholarships available in future years will be determined by available funding.
Eligibility
All scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:
- currently hold an eligible temporary visa* and be applying for a permanent humanitarian visa; and
- have completed year 12 in South Australia in the year prior to commencing University study; and
- be commencing a three-year undergraduate course at Flinders University in 2025; and
- normally be enrolled full-time at Flinders University in an undergraduate course; and
- be able to demonstrate financial support to cover the cost of living and study expenses (except for tuition fees).
Eligible visa categories are as follows:
- Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785)
- Temporary (Humanitarian Concern) Visa (subclass 786)
- Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (subclass 790)
- Bridging Visa E (subclass 051)
Selection Criteria
In selecting recipients, the following factors will be considered:
- academic merit based on the university entrance score
- the extent to which the study will enhance the applicant’s career prospects
- the extent to which the study will enable the student to contribute to the community.
Selection of the candidate(s) will be made by International Student Services in conjunction with Student Finance.
