About this Program
The aim of the Massey University Dilmah Tea International Study Award, (“the Study Award”) is to recognise the relationship between Massey University and Dilmah Tea. It is for Dilmah Tea Employees and their immediate family members, who are new international students at Massey University and have demonstrated evidence of a project they have led that has contributed to a positive impact on their community. We are looking for Dilmah Tea employees and their immediate family members who are new international students at Massey University and have demonstrated evidence of a project they have led that has contributed to a positive impact on their community. You will currently be living in Sri Lanka. This is an undergraduate and a postgraduate scholarship. Students completing a Foundation programme at Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE), Massey University, are also welcome to apply.
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be new to Massey University international students and employees of Dilmah Tea or the immediate family member of a Dilmah Tea employee such as son/daughter/husband/wife, and currently living in Sri Lanka. Students completing a Foundation programme at Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE), Massey University, will be considered as a new student.
2. The recipient must meet all programme admission and entry requirements.
3. The recipient is responsible for obtaining the appropriate visa for study in New Zealand (if required).
4. The recipient must be enrolled in an eligible programme offered by Massey University.
5. The recipient must have written approval from their manager or other nominated senior representative of Dilmah Tea, or their immediately family member who is a Dilmah Tea employee
Conditions of Study
Recipients must be full-fee-paying international students, who are neither citizens nor permanent residents of New Zealand or Australia, and be or have been (or have an immediate family member who is) an employee of Dilmah Tea for a minimum of six months immediately preceeding commencement of study. If, during the tenure of an award, a recipient’s immigration status changes so that he or she is no longer a full-fee paying international student and thereby obtains a partial refund of academic fees from the University, the award will be withdrawn.
Co-tenure
The Study Award may be held in conjunction with other Scholarships or Awards, so long as those Scholarships or Awards are not from Massey University and they permit co-tenure.
Concessions
At the discretion of Massey University, the terms and conditions of the Study Award may be modified in special circumstances or to avoid hardship to any recipient.
Admission
An offer of a Massey University Dilmah Tea International Study Award is not an offer of admission to Massey
University, nor does it imply approval of enrolment in a programme at Massey University.
Selection
The Study Award will be based on demonstrated evidence of a project the applicant has led that has contributed to a positive impact on their community and will be awarded at the discretion of the selection committee. A selection committee will be appointed by Massey University’s Office of Global Engagement to assess all applications. Applicants will be notified whether or not they have been awarded the Study Award as soon as possible after the application deadline.
Application checklist
Include the following with your application:
- a completed application form
- evidence of a project you have led that has contributed to a positive impact in your community. Evidence can include a typed written description or as a video file and attached to your emailed application.

When choosing our recipient we will consider your demonstrated evidence of a project the you has led that has contributed to a positive impact on your community.
Payments
The Study Award will be awarded as a tuition fee discount in each semester of study following confirmation of enrolment, after the official withdrawal without financial penalty (WMAR) date. In the event that a recipient withdraws from the approved programme, Massey University has the absolute discretion to determine whether all or any part of the Study Award shall be refunded to Massey University. The Study Award is not transferrable should the recipient withdraw from Massey University
