About this Program

DAAD Scholarship at AIT is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic and Development (BMZ). The DAAD Scholarship aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Southeast Asia with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. To end, scholarships are granted for development-related Master studies for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in Southeast Asia. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicant must:

  • Be nationals of one of the following countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, East Timor, Thailand, and Vietnam

  • Have successfully completed a three year university with above-average academic performance (upper third of class) not more than 6 years ago at the time of application

  • Clearly show motivation and strong commitment

  • Have a thorough command of written English (IELTS or AIT-EET 6.0 or above)

  • Fulfill AIT online admission requirements

Benefits

The scholarship covers the following items:

  • Tuition fees

  • Study and research allowance

  • Printing alliance

  • Bursary (accommodation, food etc.)

  • Travel allowance

  • Insurance

Additional Benefits

DAAD scholarship holders are also encouraged to apply for a research stay in Germany for 2 up to 6 months. The short-term research stay in Germany should preferably be announced in the application for the regular scholarship and can only be awarded if the necessary financial means are available. The short-term research scholarship includes:

  • Monthly scholarship payment for living costs

  • Health/accident/personal liability insurance

  • A flat-rate travel allowance

Program

 For this scholarship, applicants need to apply for one of the following programs under the Department of Development and Sustainability, School of Environment, Resources and Development to be eligible for this scholarship. The program are:

  • Gender and Development Studies (GDS)

  • Natural Resources Management (NRM)
