About the program

To support more outstanding foreign students to study or conduct scientific research at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), students who have registered for self-funded programs can apply for the Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students at BFSU according to their personal circumstances.

Eligibility criteria

Non-Chinese citizens (hold a valid international passport)
Currently enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a degree program (undergraduate, master’s, PhD) at a Beijing university.
Meet the language requirements of the program (Chinese-taught or English-taught with test scores).
Not receiving other major Chinese government scholarships at the same time.

Benefits

The scholarship is not always fully funded for all students, it is provided in categories with different levels of support:

Category A : covers tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and medical insurance.
Category B : covers tuition, accommodation, and medical insurance.
Category C : covers tuition and medical insurance.

This means some students may receive full-cost support (Category A) while others receive partial funding depending on eligibility and academic merit.

Passport copy (photo page)
Notarized highest degree certificate & academic transcripts
Foreigner physical examination form (if study > 6 months)
Study plan (≥ 400 words) or research plan (≥ 800 words) for degree/research students
Language proficiency proof (e.g., HSK for Chinese-taught or IELTS/TOEFL for English-taught)
Art samples (if you apply for music/art programs)
Guardian documents (if under 18)
Optional supporting materials (recommendation letters, awards, certificates)
