About this Program

The Curtin On-Campus Accommodation Equity Bursary has been established to provide assistance for domestic and international students living in on-campus accommodation at Curtin Bentley who are experiencing financial hardship.

Eligible courses

All enabling courses, undergraduate certificates, undergraduate degrees, postgraduate coursework degrees and higher degree by research at Curtin University

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Curtin On-Campus Accommodation Equity Bursary:

  • Domestic or international student
  • Enrolled (minimum 25 credits) in an eligible degree at Curtin in semester 1, 2024.
  • Have applied for a place in one of the following on-campus accommodation residences at Curtin Bentley in semester 1, 2024:
    • St. Catherine’s College
    • Twin Dolphin Hall
    • Kurrajong Village
    • Erica Underwood House
    • Guild House
    • Vickery House
  • Have a Minimum Course Weighted Average (CWA) of 50 (if applicable)

International Students must also meet the below:

  • Require financial assistance due to a significant change in financial situation since accepting course offer and/or commencing studies at Curtin.

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Maintain an enrolment each study period at Curtin University
  • Maintain a Course Weighted Average (CWA) of at least 50.
  • Pass all units attempted.
  • Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose.
  • Remain residing in the on-campus accommodation residence for the period that this bursary has been offered for.

Scholarship Benefits

For selected students:

The Curtin On-Campus Accommodation Equity Bursary provides the following:

  • A range between $1,500 - $3,000 dependant on the duration of the on-campus accommodation agreement.
    • For one semester agreements: A one-off subsidy of $1,500 paid towards on-campus accommodation, applied pro-rata on a weekly basis.
    • For one-year agreements: Up to $3,000, paid as a subsidy of $1,500 per semester towards on-campus accommodation, applied pro-rata on a weekly basis.

Please note:

  • For one semester agreements, the bursary will not be extended if the on-campus accommodation agreement is extended.
  • The subsidy will be paid directly to the applicable housing residence. The recipient will not be in direct receipt of the funds.
  • *Offers for this bursary will be made conditional pending confirmation of the recipients on-campus accommodation by the deadline given. Please note that the bursary subsidy cannot be used to pay the housing deposit.

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Domestic students:
      • Socio-economic background
      • Financial situation
      • Additional circumstances that impact ability to study
    • International students:
      • Change in financial situation

Step 6: Outcome

  • Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer which is provisional upon confirmation of an agreement for Curtin Bentley on-campus accommodation in 2024
  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) on a rolling basis from 25th of March onwards.
  • Offers will be made until funding is exhausted or until the closing date (whichever is earlier)

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
