About Program

YSEALI is excited to offer the YSEALI Game Changers Regional Workshop for youth from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. This fully-funded workshop will bring together 70 young leaders who are between the ages of 18 – 35.

The program will start with online activities and sessions from February to March 2023 and followed by an in-person workshop scheduled from May 11 – 14 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Eligibility

• Be between the ages of 18 to 35 years old.
• Be citizen of and currently residing in one of the following countries: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Vietnam.
• Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Have knowledge and some experience in game design, game programming, animation, narrative design, scriptwriting, storytelling, audio/music production, or other relevant game development skills.
• Demonstrate interest, knowledge, or professional experience in addressing issues of social importance or driving social change.
• Submit the program application as a team of two to five individuals. Individuals may also apply and can be considered on a space-available basis.

Selected Participants Commitment

• All selected participants must commit to attend all four days of the in-person Workshop & Game Jam in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Travel and accommodation will be provided to participants traveling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
• All team members of the winning teams awarded seed funding from the game jam will be required to undergo a three-month remote mentorship program from June to August 2023.
• Participants must commit to applying leadership skills and know-how to benefit your community, country, or the ASEAN region.
• Participants are free to choose the theme of their game design, however the game is required to be impact-driven by having a measurable social impact goal and/or call to action in issues of societal importance such as diversity and inclusion, financial literacy, climate change, humanitarian efforts or other issues of social importance in your community.
• The game design idea should also align with one of the following broad YSEALI themes:
  - Civic Engagement
  - Economic Empowerment and Social Entrepreneurship
  - Education
  - Environment and Natural Resources
