About this Program

The University welcomes applications for the Vice Chancellor's International Excellence Scholarship from international students who are new to studying at the University of Waikato, and who will be coming to study here for face-to-face study in 2024. This Scholarship is intended to support talented international students who are enrolling for the first time into undergraduate or postgraduate programs at the University of Waikato. The Scholarships have a value of up to NZD$15,000 and will be awarded to successful applicants who demonstrate excellent academic achievement.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be applying to enroll full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate program, as a new international student to the University of Waikato.
  • Applicants should have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of
  • Waikato.
  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA equivalency of B+ in the qualification used to gain entrance to the University of Waikato.
  • Applicants will be deemed ineligible if they are Currently enrolled in the University of Waikato College or any University of Waikato degree programs.
  • Applicants will be deemed ineligible if they have paid tuition fees or applied for a visa at the time of application.
  • Applicants will be deemed ineligible if they are coming to the University of Waikato via a sponsoring body, guaranteed credit agreement or through study abroad or student exchange agreements.

Scholarship Benefits

For selected students:

The scholarship value will be between $2,500 and $15,000 and will be paid towards the first year of study at the University of Waikato.

  • Certified copies of academic transcripts.
  • Identity document (National ID Card).
  • Valid Passport.
  • Any other supporting document needed to travel to New Zealand.
