About the program

Scholarship for exceptional female STEM students offering a monthly stipend, travel costs, visa and insurance costs and more. Funded by the British Council and the UK Mission to ASEAN. This scholarship is open to women who are pursuing a postgraduate degree who can demonstrate their need for financial support, motivated to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in STEM.

Eligibility criteria 

  • Be or identify as a woman
  • Be a passport holder and permanent resident of one of the eligible countries listed above;
  • Have applied and received an offer to study one of the eligible degrees at the University of Stirling by the time you submit your scholarship application
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree that will allow you to meet the academic requirements of the University of Stirling for the degree programme you apply for before you submit your scholarship application
  • Have not previously studied at degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK. Distance learning at a UK university or study at a UK branch campus in another country will also be considered as studying in the UK
  • Be available to start academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2026
  • Meet the English language requirement of the University of Stirling for the degree programme you apply for
  • Demonstrate a need for financial support
  • Not be in receipt of financial support or funding towards your study programme in the UK from any other source and not be able to privately fund your UK studies;
  • Demonstrate a plan and a passion to engage other women and girls in STEM from your home country
  • Agree to return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your scholarship award has ended.

Benefits

The scholarship covers the full costs associated with study at the University of Stirling, including tuition fees, living costs, travel costs, equipment and study costs.

  • Up to 12 months monthly stipend at the rate of $2,300 per month, to cover costs of living, including accommodation.
  • Return economy-class travel from home country to UK.
  • Study-related costs, such as essential travel, materials, equipment, thesis printing etc
  • Ad hoc costs (for example: heavy baggage allowance).
  • Visa and insurance / NHS surcharge costs.
  • IELTS exam fee (for scholars without a valid test of English).
