About Scholarship Program

Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships are fully funded through the New Zealand Aid Programme and administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to help build sustainable development in partner countries and a lifetime connection with New Zealand.

The purpose of Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships aims for candidates to gain knowledge and skills through their study in specific subject areas that will assist in the development of their home country. Awardees are required to return to their home country for at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to apply these new skills and knowledge in government, civil society, or private business organisations.

The scholarship application is opened from 01 February – 28 February 2023 at 12:00PM (At Noon, New Zealand Time)

Eligibility

• Be a citizen of Cambodia
• Be at least 18 years old and no older than 39 years old at the time you start the scholarship studies
• On 31 December 2023, Cambodia will have been the main country of residence for the last two years or more
• On 31 March 2023, you will have completed work experience (more than 12 months full-time work, or 24 months part-time work) that relates to the scholarship study you want to apply for
• Not currently serving in the military
• Not had a New Zealand Scholarship terminated
• Expect to meet immigration requirements for a student visa to New Zealand
• Expect to meet the academic entry requirements (including English language ability) for my planned scholarship study
• Be committed to returning to Cambodia for two years or more at the end of your scholarship to contribute to the development of Cambodia
• Transcripts are the only documents required to attach at the time of application
• Do not need to provide English language test scores when you apply for a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship.

Scholarship Benefits

With a full Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship, scholars receive:

• Full tuition fees
• Living allowance (a stipend) of NZ$531 per week
• An establishment allowance of NZ$3000
• Tutoring costs up to the value of NZ$1000, to assist with the cost of additional tutoring while you are studying if needed
• Return economy air travel and travel insurance
• Reintegration allowance of NZ$1000. This is to help with set-up costs upon your return to your home country
• Help with research and thesis costs for many postgraduate students
