Exchange Program for Cambodian Undergraduate

Cambodian undergraduate students often want to study abroad through semester exchange programmes to gain some more experience besides what is offered at school. Here are the lists of exchange programs for Cambodian undergraduates who want to at least exchange one during the university period.

1. TFI LEaRN Programme

Temasak Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking Programme (TFI LEaRN Programme) is a fully-funded one-semester exchange programme for Cambodian students to study in prestigious institutions in Singapore including National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technology University (NTU). This programme is opened for Cambodia students who are studying and are nominated by Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) and Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) which are the member of ASEAN University Network.

This programme aims to nurture the next generation of Asian leaders and foster people-to-people ties by providing opportunities for cultural exchange, networking, community engagement and leadership development.

2. STEP Sunburst Youth Camp

Sunburst Brain Camp is a one-week educational science exchange program for high school students from around Asia to have the opportunity to come together to Singapore. This program is created to bring together 150 high school students who are interested in the area of neuroscience, brain research and other related areas to have the opportunity to participate in the discussion and dialogue with the expert in the fields.

3. SSEAYP 

The Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) is a youth exchange program carried out by the Government of Japan with the active participation and cooperation of the ten Southeast Asian countries. The program aims to promote friendship and mutual understanding, broaden their perspective on the world, and strengthen their motivation and ability in international and abilities in international cooperation and progress with a leadership position.

4. YSEALI Professional Fellowship Program

The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program provides emerging leaders ages 25-35 the opportunity to spend five weeks in the United States, including four weeks working directly with American counterparts in individually tailored work placements with relevant private and/or public sector organizations.  During these placements, Fellows build their practical expertise, leadership skills, and professional networks.  The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program offers exchange opportunities under the themes of civic engagement, economic empowerment, governance and society, and sustainable development and the environment.

5. Global UGRAD Program

Global UGRAD program is a fully-funded one-semester scholarship bringing approximately 250 outstanding undergraduate students representing all world regions to study in the U.S colleges and universities. The program includes pre-academic English language training, academic coursework, service learning opportunities, professional development workshops, and cultural enrichment activities. 6. Asian Science Camp 

ASC is an annual event that aims to enlighten science-talented youths through discussions and dialogues with top scholars and technologists in the world and to promote international friendship and cooperation among the best young students of the next generation in Asia. The Asian Science Camp brings together around 200 talented young people from over 30 Asian countries every year.

7. CIMB ASEAN Scholarship

The CIMB ASEAN Scholarship is a fully-funded undergraduate scholarship awarded to students from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam or Philippines to study in another country. In addition to the financial support, this scholarship also provides the career mentoring, career experience and opportunities, global network and CIMB cultural assimilation.

8. ASEAN Scholarship

ASEAN Scholarship is a fully-funded scholarship for a semester exchange program in Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University in the Kingdom of Thailand. This scholarship is open for all ASEAN members registering as undergraduate students in an accredited university in an ASEAN country except Thailand.

9. UWC Scholarship

UWC (United World Colleges) is a global education movement that makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. The UWC movement started offering scholarships to Cambodian students since 2008. There are two scholarship programmes for Cambodia. 

Firstly, 2-Year UWC Scholarship offers a scholarship for two years for Cambodian nationals aged 16 to 18 years old of outstanding personal and academic potential. UWC scholarships for Cambodian students are need-based. It is likely that at least one of the scholarships received is fully funded, although there are partial scholarships in the mix as well.

Secondly, UWCSEA annually offers full scholarships for a maximum of five years for two Cambodian nationals, aged 13 to 15 years old, of outstanding personal and academic potential. The 5-Year scholarship programme is only available in Cambodia and for Cambodian nationals.

10. Toyama Homestay Program

Toyama home-stay program is organized by Toyama Cambodia association. This program eligible three Cambodian students who are studying Japanese language. Selection steps are Essay writing and Interview session which requires student using the Japanese language. The purpose of the program is to promote Japanese culture to Cambodian people through an exchange program in Toyama prefecture in Japan for 10 days. Especially, strengthening the relationship and understanding between Cambodia and Japan. The schedule of the program is normally arranged depend on the association provide.

11. EACAT Homestay Program

East Asia Circle Applied Technology (EACAT) Homestay Program is the homestay program supported by Japanese Alumni in Cambodia (JAC) to offer a life-changing program that enables ambitious, well-rounded Cambodian High school students to experience the Metropolis city of Japan, Tokyo within one week. It aims to create a network of Cambodian young leaders who will become a role model in their communities and make changes to Cambodia.

12. JENESYS Youth Exchange Program

The JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) is a youth exchange program organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to promote mutual trust and understanding among the people of Japan and participating countries and to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation.
