Singapore is a high-income country. This means the country is well developed so is the standard of living of the people. Providing that, people must think Singapore is super expensive to live in. Of course, it is, but there are affordable options that can help Cambodian students to study and stay in Singapore.

From Cambodia to Singapore

Speaking of university tuition fees, Singapore is relatively affordable comparing to other developed country such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Bachelor's degree tuition fees start from around $8,000 per year for international students and spending on course materials is comparable to well-known international universities in Cambodia.

Transportation

Cambodian students should not expect to find Tuk-Tuk like Passapp in Cambodia. There is no Tuk-tuk there but you can find meter taxi or Grab taxi in Singapore which is home to headquarter of the Grab Company. However, it is quite costly to travel by taxi, so students are encouraged to use the public transportations (bus and metro/MRT) which is very convenient, clean and affordable for the normal traveling purpose from the campus to where they stay or traveling around. Students can purchase an EZ-Link Card and top-up your balance for your convenience of everyday access both public transportations.

Accommodation and Food

Singapore is a small island country with about 5 million population and the population density is considerably high. This causes the land price to go up. Most Singaporean do not live in detached houses. You can find people live in a unit of the whole apartment or the HDB house because it is more affordable than buying. Students may live with their parents or stay at the dorm provided by the university. Cambodian may choose to stay at the university dorm for convenience. Furthermore, besides subscribing to the meal plan at campus accommodation if any, though there is no so-called street food in Singapore, Cambodian students can find food courts in almost every neighborhood that serve delicious foods at a more affordable price than in the restaurant.
